    Guest speaker: Alan Carr – plants of the Wallum & new book

    We share our knowledge gained from growing Aussie plants in our own gardens, bring along specimens for ‘show and tell’, host a plant exchange for those who've brought along their pots, and browse the range of plants for purchase from the Kumbartcho nursery.

    Rockhampton Branch

    Rockhampton branch meet on the fourth Friday of each month (except December) for about 2-2.5 hours starting at 7.00 pm. Meetings typically involve a presentation by a guest speaker, socialising over a cup of tea followed by a discussion of the plants on display (identification/habitat/propagation). 
Meetings are held at the Frenchville State School Activity Centre, Frenchville Rd.

    Mackay Branch Propagation Group

    Our propagation group usually holds nursery sessions from 7.30am on the last Thursday morning of each month at the branch's nursery at Queens Park. The main objective of the group is to grow and promote native species suitable for local conditions, for members, public plant sales and for special projects. Excursions to collect seed and propagating material are also held from time to time and members can purchase our plants all year round.

    Christmas Regional Gathering at Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha

    Members and visitors are invited to the Native Plants Queensland Christmas Regional Gathering on Saturday, 1 December 2018, which will be hosted by Brisbane Western Suburbs branch and held at Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha.

    We will meet in the Australian Plant Communities area to focus on the important role this section plays in the Gardens, and will have time to explore with knowledgeable leaders familiar with the plantings. The Curator of the Botanic Gardens, Dale Arvidsson, will also be giving us an update.

    The Garden is providing a minibus shuttle departing from the rear of the Visitor Information Centre to our meeting area, every 10 mins or so from 9:30am to 10:00am. You can also walk up the ring road to meet us at the sheltered tables near the Native Plants for Brisbane Gardens section.

    BYO morning tea begins at 10:00am, and bring-a-plate-to-share lunch begins at midday. Hot water, tea, coffee and cold water will be provided. There is covered shelter with seating and tables. Expected finishing time 2:30pm.

    Brisbane Western Suburbs Branch Christmas Meeting

    Brisbane's Western Suburbs branch meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm. We meet at the Chapel Hill State School in a room under the Resource Centre at the end of the long parking area.

    For our Christmas meeting we will be sharing and displaying favourite photographs from the recent Flower Show and the Region excursion to Warwick and district.

    Logan River Branch Propagation Group

    On the first Thursday of the month our group meets at Eagleby Community Nursery for a propagation morning. We use different propagating techniques, growing plants from seeds and cuttings as well as grafting.  

    We grow many different kinds of plants, from grevilleas and callistemons to butterfly host plants and bush tucker plants, and the resulting plants are shared amongst members or sold at one of Native Plants Queensland's regional Plant Markets.

    Gladstone branch conducts monthly daytime excursions to areas of botanical interest in the Port Curtis Region and other activities. If you would like to attend an excursion, please contact the branch secretary, Ruth. Participants are asked to bring a first-aid kit, food and drinking water and ensure that they have sufficient petrol for the day.

    Pine Rivers Branch Meeting

    Each month between our quarterly meetings (which are held in February, May, August & November) we get together on the third Monday morning, meeting at 9.00am in parks and in members gardens to inspect and learn about the wealth of plants found throughout the Moreton Bay region. Bring your morning tea and lunch to enjoy under a shady tree or on a riverbank.
